Strike in the railway system paralyzes transport

The Macedonian Railway workers’ strike has entered its sixth day. The strike has paralyzed railway links, while workers do not withdraw from their requests for the payment of two unpaid salaries.

“We will continue our strike unless they pay us the December and January salaries. Up until now there is no agreement”, the Railway Workers’ Union said.

The Ministry of Transport said today that in the last government meeting, this ministry has submitted a decision for the transfer of funds in the company’s account, which is facing difficult financial conditions. The government has called on the management of Macedonian Railway company and workers to find a solution and resume work.

The company’s management said that it is suffering serious losses from the strike, especially in transport, because the majority of goods are transported through railway corridors 8 and 10. /balkaneu.com/
