Stournaras meets London investors

The Governor of the Bank of Greece Yannis Stournaras had a working breakfast in London on Friday with a dozen of senior representatives of institutional investment funds, the day after Greece returned to the markets with a 7-year transaction

The meeting was organised by NatWest Markets, which is among the banks that led the recent Greek Covered Bond transactions in the capital markets.

Stournaras discussed the outlook of the Greek economy and provided an indicative assessment of the Bank of Greece on the debt relief discussions, as well as a timeline of events in anticipation of Greece’s exit from the current fiscal adjustment programme in August 2018.

With regards to the banking sector, the investors enquired about the Central Bank governor’s priorities on non-performing loans management, the upcoming stress tests for the Greek banks and stressed the importance of Greek banks returning to the capital markets, in covered bond and subordinated format./IBNA
