Deputy prime minister and minister of Finance, Zoran Stavrevski is expected to be announced as nominee by the party in power, VMRO-DPMNE for the April 13 presidential elections.
In the past few days, Macedonian media have cited party sources, according to which, Stavrevsi is seen as a serious candidate for the presidential elections, being an important political figure of VMRO-DPMNE and one of the closest collaborators of premier Nikola Gruevski.
But, asked by journalists today, Stavrevski has neither admitted nor denied his presidential nomination. “I have no comment as to whether I will run for the presidential elections”, declared Stavrevski.
According to him, the party’s practice will be respected, according to which, presidential nominees will be announced at the party’s convention at the beginning of March.
Recently, Stavrevski has become one of the most promoted figures of the government of FYR Macedonia. But, on the other hand, the current president, George Ivanov may also run for a second term in office. /ibna/
