US State Secretary, John Kerry to visit Albania

US State Secretary, John Kerry will visit Tirana on 14 February. This was confirmed by the US State Department through an official statement.

During this visit, Mr. Kerry will meet Albanian state leaders to discuss on the Euro Atlantic integration of Albania and the close bilateral cooperation with the United States of America.

Prime Minister Edi Rama considers this as “a very important visit at a time of joint challenges!”

The visit of the US State Secretary to Albania is part of a five day tour to Europe. Initially, Mr. Kerry will stop in Munich, Germany, where he will participate in the 52nd Security Conference.

Kerry will also participate in the meeting of the International Syria Support Group to discuss ways on how to end the Syrian conflict as soon as possible.

There are yet no clear details on the topics that will be discussed in the meetings that Kerry will have in Tirana. The US ambassador, Donald Lu, met in the early hours of Friday, the speaker of Parliament. The meeting focused on the reforms in the justice system and the establishment of the National Bureau of Investigation. /ibna/
