Last year, state budget grew by 7,3 million Euros coming from fines issued by road police.
This was declared by the Ministry of Interior in FYR Macedonia, which said that 4 million Euros have been collected from speed fines or DUI fines.
But, 2012 saw also a positive trend bringing 8 million Euros for the Ministry of Interior.
Spokesman of the Ministry of Interior, Ivo Kotevski declared that road police continues its activities on the field by penalizing all of those that break the law.
“We have taken effective measures in order to reduce the number of violations and to raise awareness among drivers”, said Kotevski.
According to him, controls continue and during the weekend alone, in Skopje, 349 people were fined, 60 of which were drink driving, 34 were driving unregistered vehicles, 31 didn’t own a license, etc. /ibna/
