The Special Prosecution announced today the start of investigation into the imprisonment of the former Minister of Interior and leader of “Obedineti za Makedonija” party, Lube Boskovski.

The case, which has been named “Torture”, alleges that police have exerted torture during Boskovski’s arrest in 2011, immediately after the early parliamentary elections of that period.

The main suspect in this case is former head of Secret Services, Saso Mijalkov.

According to the prosecution, the main suspect has orchestrated this case and has forced police officers to go over their powers and use violence.

The head of the Special Prosecution, Katica Janeva said that this prosecution has been established to restore people’s trust on institutions of justice. Boskovski was arrested on 6 June 2011, a day after the early elections, accused of having funded the electoral campaign of his party illegally. /ibna/
