A delegation comprised of the special envoy for Southeast Europe, Turkey and EFTA’s states at the German ministry of Foreign Affairs, Christian Hellbach and the head of the Department for Western Balkans at the French ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thomas Bertin, will hold a joint visit to Kosovo on 10 and 11 January.
The German embassy to Pristina issued a press release today saying that the cause of this visit relates to the “latest efforts to repeal the law on Specialized Chambers and the Office of the Special Prosecutor”.
“The visit takes place amid growing concerns in Berlin and Paris in relation to the recent attempts to repeal the law on Specialized Chambers and the Office of the Special Prosecutor. Other topics which will be discussed include the necessity to continue the reforms, especially in the domain of the rule of law, democracy and good governance, which are crucial in bringing Kosovo closer to the European Union”, the press release states.
During their visit, the two officials will also meet the President, Prime Minister and deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo and also representatives of political parties and civil society. /balkaneu.com/
