Speaker of parliament of FYR Macedonia, Trajko Veljanovski invited today the heads of the parliamentary assemblies of OSCE, NATO, European Council and European Parliament to send their observers for the next presidential elections which will be held on April 13.
“Veljanovski informed and invited the chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of OSCE, Ranko Krivokapic, speaker of the European Parliament, Martin Schultz, speaker of the European Council Parliamentary Assembly, Anne Brasek and the speaker of NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Hugh Bailey to monitor the election of the Republic of Macedonia and to inform the State Election Commission on their participation”, states the press statement of the speaker of parliament’s cabinet.
The statement also says that international observers will contribute for free and democratic elections.
Based on his constitutional powers, the on February 1, 2014, the speaker of parliament announced the date for the election of the President of FYR Macedonia, which will be held on April 13.
Under articles 161 and 162 of the Electoral Code, the entire electoral process can be observed by international organizations and representatives of foreign countries, and also by domestic and foreign registered associations, whose status includes the principle of the protection of human rights. /ibna/
