The 23-year-old Greek tennis player Maria Sakkari and Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic runner-up, upset BNP Paribas Open (Japanese) champion Naomi Osaka, 6-3, 7-6(8) and earned her fifth Top 20 win of the season with her win in Cincinnati, U.S.A.
Although after the second set Osaka ensured a tie-break, “Sakkari struck an impressive 26 winners to 30 unforced errors in two sets.
