The Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) seems to be about to walk out of the governing coalition led by Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Given the public debate that has ensued, the Prime Minister made these comments: “My position remains unchanged: every political force can make the choices it wishes to.”
“Obviously, to me, the government and governance of the country are responsibilities that become even more important during an electoral period,” he stated.
Berisha assured voters that “nothing will affect the determination of the government to hold a free and fair election process, in compliance with the Electoral Code and the Constitution.”
In his message to the public Mr. Berisha also assured citizens that “the country’s Constitution has all the necessary provisions that determine constitutional solutions to any institutional problem that may arise and its spirit and provisions will be faithfully respected.”
“I remain totally devoted to work with all my energies, for the country’s and the citizens’ best interest,” Prime Minister Sali Berisha’s message concluded, thus implying that the LSI’s eventual walkout will not affect the government. /ibna/
