Slovenian Prime Minister Alenka Bratušek handed in her official resignation to parliamentary Speaker Janko Veber on Monday, following the announcement she had made two days ago. Bratušek asked for the Slovenian Parliament to promptly take notice of the resignation.
Bratušek wrote on her Facebook profile that”If everybody really thinks what they are saying, then we are going to elections before the summer. Citizens will tell who should be running the government, which is the only right thing”.
The Slovenian Prime Minister had announced her resignation after speaking to the heads of the coalition parties on Saturday, regarding the future of the coalition government following the developments in Positive Slovenia (PS) party, where Bratusek lost the presidency to Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković on April 25 elections.
It was made known that the coalition party leaders agreed that it was important to hold early elections before summer, while at the same time all parties involved have agreed not to propose a new prime minister-designate to parliament to speed up elections.
