President of Slovenia Borut Pahor is on a two day visit to B&H that started yesterday.

After a meeting with the chair of the country’s Presidency, Bakir Izetbegović, Pahor stated his intent to use this visit to strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries.

On his part, Izetbegović expressed the hope that Slovenia will help B&H’s agricultural sector in order to save the year’s harvest after May’s devastating floods. For this reason, the Slovenian Agriculture and Environment Minister Dejan Židan, who is accompanying the President will visit the flooded areas and assess the damage and come up with ways to help B&H.

Pahor and Izetbegović also talked of Slovenia’s humanitarian efforts to help the victims of the floods. Slovenian charities and NGOs sent hundreds of tons of humanitarian aid to B&H and Serbia.

On Tuesday evening, Pahor was honoured with the Isa beg Ishaković award, named after the founder of Sarajevo, which is conferred every year by Bosnian academicians to foreign statesmen for their merit in Bosnia, for his support to the city of Sarajevo and the development of the entire country.
