Peter Prevc, Slovenia’s rising star in ski jumping has won the silver metal on Sunday in the men’s individual normal hill at the Sochi Olympics. The gold medal was won by the Polish Kamil Stoch, while the bronze went to Andres Bardal from Norway.

Prevc was exceptional in both rounds,  and managed to jump 102.5 and 99 meters respectively, scoring 265.3 points in total.

This is Slovenia’s first ever medal in individual ski jumping and the first medal for the country at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.

The first Slovenian athlete to win a medal in the medal in Winter Olympics was  Jure Franko, who won the second place in the giant slalom event in Sarajevo in 1984, when he represented the former Yugoslavia.

Slovenia however has yet to win a gold medal in Winter Olympics.
