Slovenia declared the end of the epidemic

The government of Slovenia has officially declared the end of the COVID-19 epidemic within its borders, citing a significant decrease in new cases and improved control over the spread of the virus. This marks a major milestone in the country’s efforts to combat the pandemic and signals a return to a sense of normalcy for its citizens.

Slovenian health authorities made the decision following weeks of consistently low infection rates and successful vaccination campaigns. With the healthcare system no longer under strain and the spread of the virus significantly reduced, officials determined that the situation had stabilized enough to lift the emergency status.

While the declaration ends the epidemic status, health officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and continue adhering to basic preventive measures, such as hygiene practices and physical distancing when necessary, to prevent any potential resurgence of the virus.

The Slovenian government has also emphasized that they are prepared to reintroduce certain measures if the situation changes. Meanwhile, border controls and testing for international travelers will still be in place to prevent imported cases from triggering new outbreaks.

As businesses, schools, and public institutions gradually return to normal operations, the government has expressed optimism that the country can fully recover from the impacts of the pandemic. Slovenia’s success in managing the epidemic is seen as a result of early and decisive interventions, along with strong public cooperation throughout the crisis.
