The new ambassador of FYR Macedonia to Washington, Vasko Naumovski says that one of the priorities of his diplomatic lobbying to the American administration, will be the name dispute with Greece.

Naumovski, a university professor from the University of Skopje, was deputy prime minister for European integration two years ago, while now, he’s replacing current ambassador to Washington, Zoran Jolevski, who has returned to Skopje in the quality of Minister of Defence.

The new US ambassador, Naumovski has revealed details on the issue of the name dispute, by saying that a new round of negotiations with the Greek side is expected until the end of the year, with the brokerage of UNO intermediary, Matthew Nimetz.

“The next meeting between the two sides is expected to take place at the end of the year. We will continue to express our positioning and ideas about the name issue. Macedonia enters these talks with the good will to settle the differences on the name dispute, but our impression is that the southern neighbor lacks motivation to overcome this problem”, declared Vasko Naumovski.

Nevertheless, a few days ago, Greek Foreign Ministry rejected accusations addressed by the Macedonian side and said that Mr. Nimetz is expecting a response from the Macedonian side on the date of the talks. /ibna/
