The question that voters will be asked and the date of the referendum are the two remaining issues which need to be addressed in order to finalize the agreement on the issue of the name which was signed in Prespa.
“Are you in favour of EU and NATO accession by accepting the name agreement reached with Greece?” This is the question that PM Zoran Zaev suggested in the last meeting of the political leaders.
SDSM says that in the days to come, there will be talks in order to determine the question that voters will be asked in the referendum and also to decide the date of the referendum.
Meanwhile, VMRO-DPMNE says that it is entirely up to PM Zoran Zaev to decide if there will be an agreement for the question of the referendum and the date. This party says that there still hasn’t been an invitation for a fresh meeting between political leaders.
Experts and intellectuals say that the question that people will be asked in the referendum needs to be simple.
University professor, Gordana Siljanovska says that the question that PM Zoran Zaev proposes is not clear.
“The name should be at the core of the referendum and people should be asked if they’re in favour of the change of the name”, Siljanovska said.
Meanwhile, September 30th is one of the likely dates for the holding of the referendum, however, parliament will decide this in the coming days. /ibna/
