Strengthening of the “Last Minute” trend in July was recorded based on the current available data of the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE) for international air arrivals at the main airports of the country.
Specifically, July 2016 ended with a positive +9.1%, or about 276,000 arrivals in the whole country. Furthermore, based on the available data of road arrivals at main entry points of the country, July 2016 ended with a positive +1.6% or around 30,000 arrivals compared to the same period in 2015.
In July 2016, Crete, the Ionian and Cyclades strongly supported all international air arrivals in the country with +12.8%, +13.3% and +8.7% respectively compared to July 2015. Athens and Thessaloniki registered a positive sign, with +10% and +11.4% respectively, while Kos, Samos and Mytilene powered registered drops -13%, -16.3% and -62% respectively. With regard to road arrivals during the month of July 2016, the tri-entry point, Albania, Bulgaria and Turkey grew by +26.8%, +3.8%, +3.7% and +46.2% respectively. In contrast, arrivals from FYROM fell -7.2%.
For the first seven months, international air arrivals closed with positive sign +6.4% or about 556,000 arrivals, in the whole country. Furthermore, based on the available data of road arrivals at the main entry points of the country, the first seven months of 2016 ended with a drop -4.8% or about -307,000 arrival,s compared to the same period in 2015.
We confirm the fact that the tourism situation today remains fluid, SETE says and underlines that the strengthening of the last minute trend” creates preconditions for achieving the goal set by the SETE from the beginning of the year, for an arrivals increase of +6%, but at the current stage to achieve the corresponding revenue growth target looks extremely difficult.
