A group of Albanians has not been allowed today by some local Serbs to start work for the reconstruction of their houses.
The incident took place when Albanian residents went to pick up an excavator and clean out the ruins of their houses burned down during and after the war in this quarter.
A group of Serbs have intervened to prevent them and as a result, the conductor of the excavator has suffered body injuries and was rushed for medical treatment to the hospital of Mitrovica.
The incident was also confirmed by Nazmi Jashari, representative of the quarter of “Kroi Vitakut”.
He said that local Serbs are not allowing Albanians to start the construction of their homes.
At the moment, Serbs and Albanians have blocked the road in two different parts.
The injured conductor is Fehmi Aliu. This was confirmed by the director of the company that he worked for, Skender Tahiraj. “We went to remove the ruins around the houses and Serbs attacked us with stones. The injured worker has been sent to hospital for medical treatment”, Tahiraj said. /ibna/
