German MPs are skeptic about issuing a date for the start of negotiations about the EU accession, although the German government has written a letter to the Bundestag asking to issue a date on Serbia. The dilemma is caused by the fact that Serbs of the north of Kosovo have put barricades on the Iber bridge in Mitrovitza.
“Five points of the Agreement must be applied until midnight and five others until mid June. What’s important to us is the unblocking of the bridge by the Serbs of the north and the guaranteeing of the freedom of movement. We know that this is psychologically difficult for the Serbs of North, but this would be the message that would convince us to issue the date”, state sources within Bundestag.
The recommendation of the German government according to which Serbia must be issued the date for the start of negotiations about the EU accession process is only a formal letter and the decision of the German Bundestag depends upon the implementation of the Brussels Agreement.
Only the left wing which has 5 MPs in the German Bundestag agrees for Serbia to be issued with a date, while the others are skeptic. /ibna/
