First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dačič spoke today with the Ambassador of Germany to Serbia, Thomas Schieb, and concluded that bilateral relations between the two countries were at a high level.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry, Dačič and Schieb stressed that relations between the two countries were characterized by intensive co-operation, both politically and economically, as Germany constitutes Serbia’s first foreign trade partner.
Dačič briefed Schieb on the latest developments in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, with particular emphasis on reaching an agreement in Washington and continuing the dialogue in Brussels.
Minister Dačič thanked Germany for its support in the process of Serbia’s accession to the European Union and expressed hope that new negotiating chapters would be opened during the German Presidency.
Ambassador Shieb stated that Germany supports any progress made in the dialogue process between Belgrade and Pristina.
During the talks, they also spoke about co-operation between the two countries in international organizations.
Schieb invited Minister Dačič to attend the “Youth, Migration and Demographic Challenges in the Western Balkans” conference, which will be held under the German Presidency of the Council of the EU.
The interlocutors expressed hope that the visit of German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas to Belgrade will take place soon. /ibna
