Serbia: Patriarch Irinej dies of COVID-19

The Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church Irinej passed away this morning at the age of 90, after a 15-day battle with coronavirus at the Karaburma Military Medical Center in Belgrade.

The Serbian Patriarch remained hospitalized since November 5 after testing positive for coronavirus the day before. Irinej attended the funeral of Metropolitan Amfilohije of Montenegro and the Littoral in Podgorica on November 1st, who also died of coronavirus.
