Court of First Instance in Pristina has found Self Determination MPs Albin Kurti, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi, Faton Topalli and Albulena Haxhiu, guilty on charges of using teargas inside parliament premises.
Albin Kurti has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, Albulena Haxhiu has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, Donika Kadaj-Bujupi has been sentenced to 18 months in prison, while Faton Topalli has been sentenced to 14 months in prison.
All of these sentences are conditional, which means the MPs will not suffer their sentence, unless they repeat these offenses within a period of two years.
After the court announced the sentences, the former leader of Self Determination, Visar Ymeri has reacted. According to Ymeri, these sentences have a political background.
Last year, for more than six months, opposition MPs held protests and blocked the work of parliament by releasing tear gas. These MPs protested against the deal reached with Serbia for the creation of the Association of Serb Communes and the border deal with Montenegro. /balkaneu.com/
