In the month of November, UN Security Council has scheduled a conference concerning the situation in Kosovo. During this conference, the special envoy and chief of UNMIK, Zahir Tanin will report on the current developments and the latest report of the General Secretariat.
Serbia will participate with a high representative, while Kosovo will be represented by its ambassador in the US, Vlora Çitaku.
The UN Security Council has established a practice where meetings are held each quarter to be briefed about the situation in Kosovo. During its presidency of the UN Security Council, the UK decided not to hold the meeting on Kosovo. Ambassador Karen Pierce said that Kosovo had not requested such meetings and that the Security Council should focus on other issues of international security. /ibna/
