In the latest report over the quarterly developments in Kosovo, UN Secretary General, Ban Ki Moon has expressed his concern over the number of people leaving the country.
“Reports over the number of people leaving Kosovo in the recent months have been a cause for concern”, said the UN Secretary General.
He says that he welcomes the efforts of the authorities of Kosovo to address migration issues, while he is encouraged by declarations that efforts are being made to improve the social and economic situation.
In the report, which covers the period from October 16 to January 15, the Secretary General says that he expects from the authorities of Kosovo to address many challenges that the country faces.
“The diversity seen in the composition of the government shows the progress that has been made and this is a new momentum in the efforts to build a multi-ethnic and democratic Kosovo”, says Mr. Ban Ki Moon.
Among the other steps of the government and parliament, Mr. Ban Ki Moon mentions the approval of the legislation for the creation of the Special Tribunal and suggests the continuation of EU brokered talks and the implementation of the provisions of the April 19, 2013 agreement, underlining the creation of the Association of Communes.
Ban Ki Moon has welcomed the constitution of parliament and the government and has made a chronology of developments which will be topics of debate in this Friday’s session of the UN Security Council. /ibna/
