EU Enlargement Commissioner, Johannes Hahn and PM Isa Mustafa have discussed the issue of illegal migration and seasonal employment of the citizens of Kosovo in the EU member countries.
After the meeting, the EU official has praised the efforts of the country’s political leaders for the prevention of illegal migration, by saying that this would help in the bilateral discussions for the agreement of seasonal work.
“The recent activities of political leaders, the PM and the others and the way how the public was informed on the consequences of illegal migration, helps this process and has offered the necessary credibility for European partners. This will help when there will be bilateral discussions, agreements with EU member countries in relation to seasonal work for Kosovo’s nationals”, said Hahn.
Meanwhile, PM Isa Mustafa has declared that seasonal work would help Kosovo’s economy.
“We also talked about the problem of migration and measures that we as a government are taking in reducing migration. We also discussed about the support that we demand from EU countries for the seasonal employment of our citizens, in order to lower the pressure of unemployment for a given period of time, until we stabilize our economic situation”, said Mustafa.
This meeting also discussed the issue of the visa liberalization for which PM Mustafa said that this issue worries the government of Kosovo.
“One of our biggest concerns is the issue of the liberalization of visas and the fulfillment of our obligations, but also the good will of EU countries to remove the visa regime and enable our citizens to travel without restrictions”, says PM Mustafa. /ibna/
