The opposition has addressed accusations against the government of cutting the budget for capital projects. According to the opposition, this decision would deteriorate the situation of roads in the country, due to the suspension of the realization of several infrastructural projects.

“The situation with roads in Macedonia will worsen even more with the budget revision”, Bllagoj Bocvarski of SDSM said.

According to him, the government has cut funds for capital investments at an amount of 45 million euros and that in the first quarter of this year, only 13% of the projects have been implemented.

Bocvarski also said that for the maintenance of roads, the government spends less than all the countries of the region. According to SDSM, as far as annual investments for the maintenance of roads are concerned, FYROM ranks last in the region with 3.300 euros per kilometer.

“As a result of these  wrong policies by VMRO-DPMNE, Macedonia has the worst infrastructure and the most dangerous roads in all of the region. After 10 years of Nikola Gruevski in power, only 2% of roads in Macedonia are good roads. 39% of them are unsafe, according to the European Union”, says the largest opposition party./
