The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair and one of Europe’s largest issued a press release announcing it will close its one aircraft base in Romania’s Timisoara as of March 25.
Romania Journal reads that, “Two routes to Milan and Bucharest to/from Timisoara will continue to operate on non-based aircraft for the Summer 2018 schedule.”
The company’s decision is a result of its “weak commercial performance, at a time when there is growing demand for Ryanair aircraft at other airports across Europe”.
Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, David O’Brien informed the public that, “All affected customers will be notified by email and SMS, and advised of their options – either a full refund or a free transfer onto an alternative route. Ryanair’s current winter programme which includes seven Timisoara routes will continue to operate as planned until the closure of the base, and we apologise to any customers inconvenienced by this decision.”…/IBNA
