Ryanair airline, which operates flights to and from Paphos airport, is likely to express an interest in the sale of Cyprus Airways, according to its CEO Michael O’Leary.
As he stressed, he will have meetings with economic and tourist agents in Cyprus, to who he will express his concerns about the high fees of Cypriot airports.
“We would like to grow more, but the obstacle is the high cost”, said O’Leary and argued that this high cost resulted in Cyprus losing half a million passengers during a period of five years from 2008.
According to Ryanair, the charges on the two Cypriot airports are twice those of an airport in Berlin and are among the highest in Europe.
