In the beach of Himara in the south of Albania, a Russian tourist has died in tragic circumstances. A ski jet has hit him in different parts of the head and the body by causing his death.
The victim is Denis Kuiamov, 43 years old, from Saint Petersburg, Russia. He passed away in the hospital due to the serious injuries caused by the ski jet, only 50 meters from the coast.
The victim had come to spend his holidays to Himara along with his wife and daughter.
The death of the tourist comes at a time when security measures are often lacking in Albanian beaches, leaving holidaymakers and those who use ski jets in the same place, without the necessary division lines. This is the opinion of many citizens from Himara.
The Ombudsman, Igli Totozani has reacted on this tragedy. He says that the death could have been prevented if respective institutions and local government would have applied the law for the use of these water vehicles.
According to the Ombudsman, the tragedy that happened to the Russian family, also threatens Albanian holiday makers. “What happened must force urgently force authorities to apply the law on the use of water vehicles which is part of the leisure business”, the Ombudsman says.
Totozani called on responsible institutions to intervene immediately in order for such tragedies not to be repeated again. /balkaneu.com/
