Russia’s Foreign ministry went on to protest after the expulsion of two Russian diplomats and the ban on entering Greece on two others.
On Friday, July 13, as stated in the Russian Foreign Ministry’s announcement, the Greek Ambassador to Moscow, Andreas Phryganas was summoned to be given the démarche.
“On July 13, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the Russian Federation, Andreas Phryganas, was summoned to the Foreign Minister of Russia, in which a resolute protest regarding the expulsion of two Russian diplomats and the ban on entering two other citizens of the Russian Federation was expressed.
It was underlined that we treat this action as absolutely unfounded, without without being based on facts from the Greek side, in conflict with the nature of our bilateral relations and capable of causing them a serious damage.
It is obvious that behind the anti-Russian decision of the Greek government, dedicated to the opening of the NATO Summit, is Washington, which has openly supported these actions with a statement by the State Department.” …. / IBNA
