The conflict sparked between Russia and Turkey could represent a good opportunity for Romania, at least in terms of tourism. The country should become the next choice for Russian citizens, considering Vladimir Putin’s demand that the Russian government banned charter air transport between Russia and Turkey.
Therefore, authorities in Bucharest must launch a strong promotion campaign on the Russian market, said Corina Martin, Chairwoman of the Tourism Promotion Associations’ Federation (FACT), according to Romanian news wires. Martin highlighted that the tourism authorities of Israel were already reacting and are heading with attractive tariffs to Russian tour operators to create an alternative.
“Romania should obviously take advantage of this situation, in the sense that we have the opportunity, as happened last year, when we managed to attract to Constanta a much higher number of cruise ships following the tense situation in Ukraine”, according to the Chairwoman of the Tourism Promotion Associations’ Federation.
