Socialist Party whip in Albania, Taulant Balla declared today that “the June 30 local elections will be held and that it’s impossible to change election date”.
“The Socialist Party and the Prime Minister have been ready to hold talks with the Democratic Party. Prime Minister Rama has sent several letters to the chairman of the Democratic Party, stressing the necessity for dialogue, because unconditional dialogue is very important in a democracy”, Balla said.
According to the senior socialist official, local elections are decided by one party or another, stressing that elections are determined by the Constitution and that June 30 is the last deadline.
Balla also said that opinion polls suggest that support for the Democratic Party has hit an all time low. /ibna/
