Romanian delegate Minister of Tourism and the Business Environment, Maria Grapini, said that romanian tourist authorities aim in a 50% increase in the country’s tourism in 2014, but in order for that to happen more flexible rules should be set for granting visas to citizens outside the EU.

In the first 10 months of 2013 a total of 1.5 million foreign tourists visited Romania marking a marginal 3.3% growth from 2012.

Grapini said that the Minister of Tourism and the Business Environment will travel to Malaysia in order to sign a cooperation agreement on tourism, between the two countries, making it easier for Malaysian tourist to visit Romania.

There are also plans for promoting Romania as a business destination in Japan and South Korea.
