Romanian heavyweight boxer Cristian Ciocan claimed the WBO European heavyweight title on Saturday evening, winning a split decision points victory over Turkish fighter Erkan Teper after 12 fairly balanced rounds at the G 18-Halle in Hamburg, Germany.
Ciocan previously held the WBO belt in the period 2012—2013.
The 29-year old Romanian boxer from Galati thus bagged the 20th victory in his professional career (20-4, 11 KOs).
Erkan Teper (34) had been undefeated for 16 straight matches.
