Speaking from Brussels on Sunday in the context of the negotiations at the European Council on the European Recovery Fund for Coronavirus, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis told reporters that all European leaders were seeking a solution, yet this was not a guarantee for its conclusion, adding that he remained moderately optimistic. As for Romania, Klaus Iohannis noted that the issue of the rule of law does not constitute a problem for the country and is not opposed to a link, because, fortunately, the issue of the rule of law was resolved last year with the referendum and the political amendments.
“Priority issues for Romania are the funds needed for cohesion, road projects, railways, schools and for hospitals. We need money for agriculture (…) We are in need of significant funds for economic recovery, and we want there to be substantial flexibility in funds and how they are managed”, said Klaus Iohannis. /ibna
