Around 70 Romanian soldiers deployed in Afghanistan, Iraq and the Central African Republic as part of NATO’s “Resolute Support” and “Inherent Resolve” operations, as well as in the context of the EU’s training and advisory operation, will be repatriated according to the Ministry of National Defense.
This is a measure to restructure the Romanian system in the fight against coronavirus. Soldiers will be reassigned to these theaters of operation if required by the administrations of these missions. Similar measures have been taken by other NATO and EU member-states or other partners. However, the 120 troops deployed last week in Mali as part of the UN MINUSMA operation will remain in place. /ibna
