PSD MP Alfred Simonis announced that his party had sent a letter to embassies and political groups in the European Parliament, noting that President Klaus Iohannis had not asked the Social Democrats to nominate the prime minister, despite winning the majority of votes.

Concluding the letter, party leader Marcel Ciolacu called on embassies to support him and European Socialist leaders to “support the PSD with public messages” in order to force the president to “respect the Romanian vote.”

In other news from the Romanian political landscape, Porcsalmi Bálint, Executive Chairman of the UDMR, announced that he was resigning from the position he held since 2017, without providing any thorough explanations. /ibna
