Prime Minister-designate Ludovic Orban begins today the second round of government consultations
A second and decisive round of consultations with political parties was launched this morning by Romanian Prime Minister-designate Ludovic Orban. The first contacts involved the Liberal Democrats (ALDE) early in the morning and PMP, UDMR and USR will follow. Tomorrow the Prime Minister-designate and President of the Liberals will have the final discussions with the Pro România party. He will then submit to Parliament the list of the ministers’ names and the government’s program. The vote to cast a vote of confidence is expected to take place next week, possibly on Wednesday.
Dan Barna’s USR party’s role will be pivotal in determining whether the effort will be successful; it has shown that it not that willing to compromise. USR has set two terms, but one of them (the election of mayors in two rounds) clashes with UDMR’s positions. /ibna
