Romania: Orban alleges PSD seeks to seize power to control the electoral process

Ludovic Orban told Digi 24 on Monday afternoon that the Social Democratic Party (PSD) had tabled the motion of censure “only to seize power in an attempt to control the electoral process”.

According to Orban, “leaving the country without a government is currently an act of political irresponsibility”. He considered it “obvious” that the PSD was not interested in any governance plan, nor in the economic recovery of Romania, nor in the operation of a government capable of preparing and managing the absorption of European funds, approving the European Union Commission’s recovery plan, or prepare the partnership agreement for the Multiannual Financial Framework 2021 – 2027.

In addition, the success of a motion of censure “would jeopardize the government’s ability to meet the enormous challenges we face”, he said. Ludovic Orban finally stated that he was convinced that, in the upcoming parliamentary elections on December 6th, the Romanian voters would decide on the future parliamentary arithmetic and, consequently, on the future government. /ibna
