Romania: Late September or early October the possible dates for local election

Romanian Prime Minister Ludovic Orban said that possible dates for local elections are either September 27 or October 4.

Ludovic Orban added that the decision of the Romanian Constitutional Court is expected to make it clear who, the Government, by government decree, or the Parliament, by law, will have to determine the date of these elections.

For his part, the caretaker Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader Marcel Ciolacu said he had talks with the leader of the Alliance of Democrats and Liberals (ALDE), Călin Popescu Tăriceanu, and with Pro Romania’s President Victor Ponta to form an alliance between the three parties for the local elections. He recalled that they had agreed to file a motion of censure against the Orban government, but said that would not happen as long as Romania was in a state of alert./ibna
