Presidents Klaus Iohannis and Donald Trump had a phone conversation on Saturday at the request of the US side, according to the Presidential Administration.
The two leaders discussed the health crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, with the US President expressing his intention to send respirators to equip Romanian hospitals.
For his part, President Klaus Iohannis thanked his American counterpart for the assistance Romania has received from the US since the start of the pandemic. He sent out a message of solidarity to the American people and expressed his condolences to those who lost their lives due to COVID-19.
On this occasion, President Iohannis and President Trump reaffirmed their common commitment to strengthening bilateral strategic partnership, as well as to strengthening security and economic cooperation. /ibna
