The hearings of the candidates for the Ministries of Prime Minister-designate Ludovic Orban’s government commenced on Monday in the Romanian Parliament, which remains exactly the same as the previous administration that fell after the motion of censure. According to the regulation, each candidate for ministerial position will be presented before the relevant committees and the two Houses of Parliament at a joint sitting, which will then issue a joint reasoned opinion.
Ludovic Orban is moving on with no cares regarding the voting in committees, as his goal is to call early elections. “No matter how PSD Members and Senators vote, the important thing for me is for ministers to present their work. We are not interested in the committees’ voting because the current Parliament lacks legitimacy”, Orban said. He also commented that it would be silly for PSD to vote for a government headed by him to prevent early elections, because he would not be able to justify his decision to his constituents.
The hearings will last three days and the vote on whether or not a vote of confidence will be given is scheduled for 24 February. /ibna
