Romania: Ciolacu calls on all political parties to put an end to political conflicts

Interim PSD President Marcel Ciolacu called on all political parties to follow a plan to combat the crisis caused by coronavirus: “Let’s stop the political conflict immediately! Let’s work together”.

On Sunday, interim PSD President Marcel Ciolacu sent an open letter to all parliamentary party leaders urging them to work together to develop a national plan to combat the impacts of the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

In his letter, Ciolacu argues that there is no time for political conflicts and sterile confrontations, nor for electoral calculations or putting the interests of the parties in the front. “We are losing critical days when the parties decide to take initiatives in Parliament, that are then adopted by the government in the form of emergency decrees which have only superficially been processed, with the Parliament amending them again and again to correct the mistakes that have been made, while others MPs appeal to the Constitutional Court to prevent their entry into force!” said Marcel Ciolacu addressing the leaders of the parliamentary parties.

The open letter was addressed by Marcel Ciolacu to the Speakers of the Parliamentary Parties: Ludovic Orban of PNL; Dan Barna of USR; Kelemen Hunor of UDMR; Victor Ponta of Pro Romania; Calin Popescu Tariceanu of ALDE; Eugen Tomac of PMP, as well as Varujan Pambuccian, the Head of the Parliamentary Group of the National Minorities./ibna
