Rexhepi-Çitaku in Brussels: The process of the liberalization of visas must be more dynamic

Minister for European Integration, Vlora Çitaku and Minister of Interior, Mr. Bajram Rexhepi met today (13.02) in Brussels with the EU Commissioner for Internal Affairs, Cecilia Malmstrom.

The meeting was focused on the talks for the liberalization of the visa regime between EU and Kosovo.

The ministers briefed the Commissioner about the numerous developments in the implementation of reforms and the fulfillment of criteria for each of the domains of the guideline for the liberalization of visas. The two ministers mainly presented the achievements in the domain of repatriation, reintegration, integrated management of borders, fight against organized crime and corruption.

Sources from the government of Kosovo told balkaneu.com today that the participants of the meeting also talked about illegal emigration and the challenges that the country is facing.

In this aspect, the two ministers and Commissioner Malmstrom discussed about the work that will be done in the weeks and months to come and expressed their commitment toward this important process.

The two ministers demanded from the Commissioner to boost up relations between Kosovo and EU in order to successfully finalize as soon as possible the liberalization of visas for Kosovo.

The meeting decided for a new mission of EU experts to visit Kosovo in March in order to assess the remaining domains of the guideline for the liberalization of visas. /ibna/
