Head negotiator of Kosovo in the talks with Serbia, for the normalization of relations between the two countries, Edita Tahiri, is in Brussels along with the two mayors of the communes of northern and southern Mitrovica.
She was invited by the European Union chief of diplomacy, Catherine Ashton.
According to a press release, delegations of Kosovo and Serbia will discuss today about the constructions on and near the Iber river bridge in Mitrovica.
Before departing to Brussels, Edita Tahiri’s press office declared that a concrete plan is expected for the removal of the barricades and free movement on the Iber bridge and around it in compliance with the laws of Kosovo.
Meanwhile, president of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga met on Monday afternoon with the commander of the NATO Joint Forces Command in Naples, admiral Bruce W. Vlingan. During this meeting, she declared that the barricades installed on the bridge are hindering the life of the citizens of the country and this is a violation of the laws and Constitution of the country, which guarantees free movement and equal rights.
She said that Kosovo has shown its commitment to build good neighborly relations with all the countries of the region, including Serbia, with which it has achieved agreements in the framework of the talks for the normalization of relations.
President Jahjaga said that all the agreements that were reached must be implemented in practice and underlined the importance of creating the necessary conditions which guarantee free movement of the citizens in the entire territory of the country. /ibna/
