Cross religious Committee of Albania and its members, the Muslim Community of Albania, Orthodox Church of Albania, Catholic Church of Albania and the Bektashi World Community, supported by the Evangelist Church of Albania, are following the situation recently taken place in Middle East.
In an official stance, religious communities say that they’re closely following the activity of ISIS terrorists in Iraq against the local Christian population and also against Muslims and other minorities.
“We strongly condemn such criminal acts which have nothing in common with the basic principles of our faith. We pray to God, who has created us all, to bring back peace and dignity to those areas. In the name of God, we pray for them to lower their weapons and seek peace and harmony. We also call on international community to find all the necessary solutions in order to stop the displacement of the residents of Mosul and surroundings due to their beliefs. We believe that the right of faith is a fundamental human right. We enjoy this right in Albania and a reality where religious communities have managed to build in our country. We want to say to everyone that it’s possible to live together, by helping each other, regardless of the faith, ethnicity or race”, reads the joint statement of the religious communities. /ibna/
