Cross border organized crime, migration and participation in foreign conflicts, remain a concern for the security of Western Balkan, declared today the US ambassador to Pristina, Tracey Ann Jacobson.
Jacobson made these comments during the International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) conference, which functions in the framework of the US Department of Justice.
Present in this conference are general police directors from Kosovo, Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and FYROM.
“Recently, cross border organized crime and illegal migrations have been a concern. Recently, we’ve also been concerned with the tendency of participation in foreign conflicts, such as in Syria and Iraq and the effort to indoctrinate young people with extremist ideologies”, declared Jacobson.
The only way that prevents and fights these complex crimes, said the US ambassador, is cooperation between the countries of the region.
She said that this is the reason why the meeting is seeing the participation of experts from the FBI, who offer to the heads of police and prosecutors of the countries of the region their experiences in tackling such crimes. /ibna/
