At least three refugees have drowned in their efforts to cross the Suva Reka river in the region of Gevgelija in the southern part of the country in the border with Greece.
The Ministry of Interior has confirmed the tragedy, stressing that the teams on field have reached the scene.
“Today at 6:45 am we received news of this tragedy. Three people drowned while attempting to cross the Suva Reka river, while 23 others survived. So far we cannot offer any details on the identity of the victims”, the ministry of Interior said.
The refugees who managed to survive have been sent to the refugee welcome center in Vinojug near Gevgelija, where they received medical assistance. /ibna/
