Albania is also being abandoned by refugees. The latest data supplied by the International Organization for Migration indicate a significant drop in the number of refugees who have left the country in the third quarter of the year.
So, referring to the data at the end of September, the number of refugees entering Albania in the third quarter of the year was 247 as opposed to 474 in the second quarter and 769 in the first quarter of the year.
The drop was 92%, whereas in other countries of the region, such as Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the number of refugees has increased by 6 to 32 times.
The drop in the number of refugees entering Albania was not even affected by the summer period, which usually encourages border crossings. Nonetheless, the extra measures taken in border crossing points and the little desire that exists to seek asylum in Albania, has led to a significant drop in the number of asylum seekers. /ibna/
