Refugee crisis: Dutch PM praises Turkey, slams Greece

The Dutch premier Mark Rutte was ‘loud and clear’. He praised Ankara for sticking to the EU-Turkey refugee agreement and criticised Athens for being the only side causing problems to its implementation.

On Tuesday, he said, according to Anadolu’s report that the cause of the problem “stems from the speed of Greece sending refugees back to Turkey”, while hailing Greece’s neighbour “in countering irregular migration and improving the living conditions of Syrian refugees.”

Speaking to his fellow lawmakers at the Dutch Parliament, Rutte told them, “To be honest, I think that Turkey has been extremely adhered to the refugee agreement. I believe if there is a situation to be worried about, how Greece is implementing the agreement should be looked into, not Turkey.”… / IBNA
